Meet your therapist, Kelly Siegel McGinnis
As a licensed clinical social worker with 15 years experience in helping people of all ages improve their outlook on life, I build trusting relationships with clients that are rooted in warmth, humor, and compassion. I view each client as a unique individual and collaborate with them and their families to design treatment plans that are realistic for their daily lives. I am an LGBTQ+ ally and Black Lives Matter supporter: in my practice, I have a deep respect for the my clients' diverse culture, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender expression, and physical ability.
My clinical approach combines a variety of evidence-based techniques with some good old fashioned humility and common sense! I draw most heavily from practices that are considered experiential in nature, such as Internal Family Systems, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as Tapping). These techniques are proven to be highly effective in providing fast relief from upsetting symptoms and achieving deeper understanding of why mental health issues arose in the first place. This helps us then make connections and observe patterns so that we feel better prepared to handle stressful life events without feeling we are in crisis each time. To learn more about what these techniques look like, please click on the links provided and some of my blog and videos.
I founded Insight Mental Wellness in 2016 to provide the Camden County community a holistic and humanistic approach to counseling. This means less attention paid to diagnosis and pathology and more time dedicated to learning about each unique client. The results are tailored evidence-based treatments that feel just right and never "one size fits all."
I moved to Collingswood, NJ in 2013 after years of living and working in Philadelphia. I love the slower pace of life on this side of the bridge and the friendly, accepting community that I am now a part of. When I am not working, I try to keep myself grounded by doing things that I love such as listening to good music, connecting with friends and family, chasing after my two young daughters, tending to my ever-growing plant collection, exercising, cooking and dancing.
